Conductors
Marc David has been Principal Conductor of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra since 1992. He is also Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of l'Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil (Quebec), and has worked as a guest conductor with orchestras across Canada, the United States, Mexico and Switzerland. In 2002, Marc David was appointed Adjunct professor at the School of Music of Memorial University .
Douglas DunsmoreCurrently, Dr. Dunsmore is Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland’s School of Music (choral activities), choirmaster at Gower Street United Church and conductor of the NSO Philharmonic Choir.
Jim DuffHe has served for many years as a musical director, performer, composer/arranger, and sound consultant for many CBC radio and television series and specials, and has acted as leader of his own big band for concerts and numerous other occasions. For the past fifteen years, Jim has worked closely with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra as composer, arranger and conductor for their annual Gala and Pops concerts.
Peter GardnerPeter Gardner is the General and Artistic Director of the NSO, and Concertmaster Emeritus. He will Conduct the NSO at the Big Ticket Gala and the 'NSO goes to the Movies' section of the Suncor Energy Big Band Show, and additionally for the sinfonia #2, Concerto Grosso. Peter is also the Conductor of the NSO Youth Orchestra.
